Elsie Merleen Nielson McCleery, age 77, quietly slipped from her earthly existence on April 26, 2021, in Loveland, Colorado.
She was born on June 4, 1943, in Delta, Utah to Mureal Woodrow Nielson and Elsie Adelaide Wellington Nielson. Elsie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She married the love of her life, Steven Raymond McCleery, on November 9, 1963, then sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 9, 1964.
Elsie was a talented lady even thought she wouldn’t say so, especially with crocheting and sewing. She was also incredibly artistic, if you could get her to draw. She was a wonderful cook and taught her daughters food storage, canning and how to provide for a family. She taught her only son Brian how to work hard and also apologize to firemen and neighbors. Elsie was a wonderful mother and close friend to all of her children. Her family was her most prized possession and most important accomplishment. She centered her later years on her grandchildren and great-grandson. Her grandchildren will always fondly remember the beloved individual birthday dates. Elsie spent many years serving in the Boy Scouts of America and was nominated for the Silver Beaver Award. She served with all her heart in every assignment or calling given whether in Relief Society, Young Women’s, Primary, or Ministering. She dedicated her life to serving others.
Elsie proudly served a full-time mission in the Washington Spokane Mission, in the Employment Resource Center. She also served as an Ordinance Worker in the Denver Colorado temple for several years. The temple was one of her favorite places to be.
Elsie is survived by her 5 children: Brian (Lisa Hagstrom) McCleery, Angela (Jim) Miller, Deborah (Matt) Wolf, Candace McCleery, and Teresa (Eric) Morris. Her Honorary Daughter: Matti McCleery. 11 Grandchildren: Zack Russell, Devon Des Jardins, Alyssa (Kagan) Wilkinson, Brynne Miller, Erika Miller, Avery Morris, Lily Miller, Jake Morris, Brock Miller, Eden Morris, and Wyatt Morris, 1 step-grandson: Sebastian Wolf, and her Great Grandchildren: Kimball Wilkinson and 2 more on the way.
She is preceded in death by: Her sweet spouse: Steven R. McCleery, Parents: Mureal W. and E. Adelaide Nielson, Sister: Betty L. Johnson, Granddaughter: Ashley Miller.
