Elnora Thornock

October 12, 1919 — January 12, 2018

Born 10/12/1919 in Macon, Nebraska
Died 1/12/2018 in Lehi, Utah
She lived a long and enriched life to the age of 98 and leaves behind a legacy of loved ones. Elnora married William James Moore (d. October 1968) the summer of 1940 in Winnemucca, Nevada. They moved to Oakland, California and later settled in Twin Falls, Idaho where they started their family of 4 boys and 2 girls, Jimmy, Elnora May, Larry, Baby Moore (d. March 1949) Francine and Bryan. She later divorced and married Russell Orin Thornock (d. September 2009) in spring of 1962 where together they adopted Rusty.
Throughout her life, Elnora lived in several states; however, Utah was always her favorite place to live. Her greatest accomplishment was her family. Her heart was the happiest when children were present. She took her love for children and worked as a Nanny and in the school lunch program where she fed the mouths of the elementary school children.
Elnora had a love for gardening; you would often find her playing in the yard planting flowers and veggies. Her famous family meal for the family was chop suey. Living in California where vegetables were in abundance, you never knew what the ingredients would be from one serving to another.
Later in life, she and Russ were caretakers at the El Nautica Boat Club. For several years, they lived at the lake, taking great care in beautifying the grounds by planting flower gardens around the house they lived in. They participated in many of the activities where the oldest grandchildren and their children (the great grandchildren) got to know her best.
On June 6, 2009 she fell and fractured her kneecap. In July, she moved in with her oldest son, Jim and wife Carol, where they lived in the “attic” home above her granddaughter, Donna’s garage. It is here where she earned the name Grandma T, when her great-great-granddaughter Bobbie could not say Thornock and called her grandma knock-knock. It was shortened to Grandma T which stuck for the remainder of her years.
As her life continued, she lived the best of her years by living and building relationships with all of her surviving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son James B. Moore (Carol), daughter Francine K. Moore, son Bryan L. Moore, son Russell B. Thornock (Rochelle) and step-daughter Linda Jean. Brother Lester G. Blank, 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Proceeded in death by her parents, William Thomas Blank and Harmina George (Tjaden) Blank, brother Arthur T. Blank, infant son Moore, daughter Elnora May Moore, son Lawrence Rae Moore and granddaughter Aleecelynn E. Thornock.
