Elmer E. “Al” Kofoed

May 12, 1933 — October 23, 2018

Al Kofoed, age 85, passed away on October 23, 2018 due to lung cancer.
Al was born May 12, 1933 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Niels Peter Kofod and Else Dora Emelia Hansen. He was the oldest of six children and immigrated to the United States in 1948 with his grandparents Einer and Elisabeth Hansen.
He served two years with the United States Army in Korea during the Korean War. He was assigned to the 538th Corps of Engineers Field Maintenance Company.
Al married Dorothy Andrew Boyack in 1971. They were married for 46 years until her death in January 2018.
He loved to travel, especially to Denmark. He also enjoyed fishing, photography, auto mechanics, and was a professional hypnotist for a short while. His professional careers included auto mechanic, photographer, and working at Cordin Company since 1979 where he was the production manager for several years. He was still employed at Cordin at the time of his death.
He will be remembered for his smile and quiet sense of humor. He treasured and loved his wife, cats, children (biological and step-children were all equal), grandchildren, and great grandchildren,
Preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, grandparents, parents, three brothers, one sister, and son Kenny.
Survived by his brother John, children: Sherrie Cheney (Gary), Karin Wolf (Hal), Preston Kofoed (Vickie), Wendy Pendleton (Arlin), Jeffrey Kofoed, Karina Kofoed, Cheryl Perkins, Verl Boyack (Kathy), Kerry Boyack (MaryAnn), Vickie Boyack, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
