Elizabeth Yuen

November 13, 1960 — November 10, 2015

Elizabeth Anne (Thompson) Yuen was born in Orange, California on November 13, 1960 to Clifford Wayne Thompson and Nancy Lee (Cummings) Thompson. She attended Fontana High School until her senior year where she graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She also studied at Brigham Young University. On September 5, 1979, Beth married Charlie Cheung-Hay Yuen in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. In the 36 years of being married to her sweetheart, they raised three daughters: Cassondra Cie-Ha Abbatiello, Melissa May-Ha Yuen, and Elysia Eay-Ha Alvarado Yuen.
Beth enjoyed many things in life that brought her joy and spread joy to those around her. She was known for her sewing and embroidery work including coming up with her own patterns and creating or fixing anything anyone would ask of her. She loved traveling the world and has visited most major cities in the United States and Canada as well as London, Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Prague, Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Jerusalem, Hong Kong, Macau and various cities in Costa Rica, Mexico, China, Egypt, and Jordan. She was skilled in footzonology and had a vast knowledge of essential oils. She also loved music and played the violin and oboe and was in the marching band in high school. She was a scout as a child and a Girl Scout leader for over ten years. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. She especially loved her nursery kids and young women. Beth also had the wonderful opportunity to serve in the Salt Lake Temple. She always put her whole heart into everything she did.
She was compassionate, sweet, humble, caring, and understanding. She always put the needs of others before her own. She was patient, understanding, and reassuring in all circumstances and wanted everyone to feel loved. Beth always thought of the details others might have overlooked and went out of her way to make others happy. She took pride in her own Scandinavian roots and embraced her husband’s Chinese culture and traditions. She loved spending time with Charlie and going on every adventure they could together. Above all, Beth’s greatest pride and accomplishment was her family. She was a wife, a mother, an aunt, a daughter, a grandmother, and a friend. She was always supportive of her children’s dreams and ambitions and was actively involved in their lives, including going to concerts, sporting events, and activities. She loved her three grandchildren dearly and found joy in reading with them, playing with them, and being involved in their lives.
Though she encountered trials and challenges in life, she always faced them with a positive attitude and a hope for the future. Beth passed away into the rest and loving embrace of her Heavenly Father on the morning of November 10, 2015. She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, two brothers, husband, three daughters, and three grandchildren, Jordan, Mason, and Brayden Abbatiello. She will forever be loved and missed by family, neighbors, dear life-long friends, and especially her husband.
