Elizabeth “Beth” R. Jensen

April 19, 1939 — September 25, 2018

Elizabeth R. Jensen passed away at her Sandy, Utah, home on Sept 25, 2018, at the age of 79. She was born on April 19, 1939, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Glendon and Vivian Radmall. She was the youngest of four girls. She grew up in Sandy, Utah, and then moved to West Jordan, Utah, graduating from Jordan High School in 1957. She later graduated from Stevens-Henager College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Ray Jensen in June of 1960. (They were later divorced). They lived in California for four years and then moved back to raise their family in Granger and then Sandy, Utah. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings, including Primary president. She was a dedicated visiting teacher. A homemaker when her children were young, she later worked at Deseret Pharmaceutical. In her later years, she was called to work at the Jordan River Temple, faithfully serving twice a week for several years. She spent countless hours working on her family history and indexing old historical records so that others could do the same.
Beth enjoyed traveling the United States on temple trips with friends and family until failing health kept her closer to home. She was an avid reader who instilled a deep love of reading in her three children. She was an accomplished quilter who made an individualized, pieced quilt for each of her grandchildrens’ baptisms. She was the family seamstress, making costumes and specialty clothing for her family, as well as doing their mending. All the grandkids knew that “Grandma could fix it.” She loved to crochet and do embroidery and other needlework, and made amazing hand-made Christmas decorations for her family. Her children have many fond memories of doing crafts with their mother when they were young.
She loved teddy bears and had a large collection of them. She also loved collecting thimbles and miniature spoons from different locations. All these collections were added to by her loving family. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, sudoku and word games. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending their concerts and sporting events. She was a very kind and loving person whose friendship was cherished by many people. She was an excellent listener with the gift of keeping unsolicited advice to herself. She was also very funny and regularly cracked her grandchildren up. She had a special cookie jar that she kept stocked up. She knew everyone’s favorite cookie. She could also hear the lid come off it from across the house.
Beth is survived by her sister, Dorene (Ric) Bernegg; her children, Lisa (Richard) Worsham, Jill Montoya, and Mike (Rachel) Jensen; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Ila Rasmussen and Penny Burkinshaw. A viewing will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the LDS church on 1475 E. 8600 S. in Sandy. Funeral services will be held in the same building on Monday, October 1, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. preceded by a viewing at 12:00 p.m. She will be interred at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery on 6500 S.
