Eleuterio “Junior” Ulibarri went home to be with The Lord Jesus Christ and his wife Jackie on November 23, 2013. He passed away peacefully at his home in Colorado. Junior was born in Montrose, Colorado on June 11, 1931 to Eleuterio Ulibarri and Maria Epimenia Garcia. He married Jacqueline Townsend on June 30, 1959 and they were married just shy of 50 years when Jackie passed. Junior was the youngest of ten children, which shaped his personality in becoming a very determined and resilient person. Junior and his high school wrestling team won the state championship and earned a trip to New York City to wrestle in the NCAA Championship. After graduating high school, Junior attended Western State College in Gunnison Colorado on a wrestling scholarship. During Junior’s college days a couple of his brothers came to visit him and persuaded him to relocate to Salt Lake City, Utah. After relocating, Junior began boxing and boxed under the name Junior Best. He boxed from the time he was a young boy up until his mid twenties. He also began a career as an Ironworker and enjoyed it immensely. He often commented about how exciting it was to be up high on the iron working. He said it was more thrilling than going to an amusement park and that the best part was he got paid to do it. Junior was a skilled ironworker for more than two decades. His career was unfortunately cut short by a work related injury. That did not hold Junior back or quench his determined spirit. Junior was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. The latter part of his life he spent taking care of his wife and enjoying his family. Junior was raised Catholic and always had relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ. Over the last few years of his life this relationship grew even stronger.
Junior will be lovingly remembered by his surviving family especially his children, Markus (Corey) Ulibarri, Patti (David) Rousselle, Marci (Sean) Goebel; grandchildren Brandy (Gabe) Alderson, Kailee Love, Lucas Boggie; Izaiah Rousselle; Hailey, Hannah and Taylor Goebel; great grandchildren Eli and Lila Alderson.
