Eldon J. “Lucky” Wilson
June 1, 1921 — December 6, 2017
Eldon J. Lucky Wilson, Dad and Papa, left this earth peacefully to join the love of his life on December 6, 2017.
Born June 1, 1921 to Robert William and Margaret Amelia Honey Wilson in Kanab, Utah. He lived in Kanab until he was eight, where his family moved to Salt Lake City.
First time he laid eyes on Dorothy Derbyshire (Duchess) he went home and told his mother he had met the girl he was going to marry… and they did. They ran away to Preston, Idaho and married on May 25, 1941. Joined the Navy in August 1942. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake temple on May 7, 1947. They were blessed with two daughters; Judy and Dottie. They spent many wonderful years traveling, camping, and hunting for arrowheads and enjoying family and friends. They had an incredible love affair that lasted 72 1/2 years and were an example to all. He is survived by his two daughters Judy Bobb and Dottie Mitchell (David Ward Sr.), seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Sister Margaret VanRy and two special sisters in law, Margaret Morris and Janice Derbyshire. Preceded in death by his beloved Duchess, parents, in laws, 1 sister, 4 brothers, and his son in law, Ivan Bobb.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 10, from 6-8 pm at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary: 1640 E Lakeview Dr. (1100 S), Bountiful. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 11 at 1 pm with a visitation one hour prior at the same location.
The family would like to thank Dottie and Dave for taking care of Papa for the past 4 years, especially the last two months of his life. Heartwood Hospice- Chaplain Steve, Jessica, Rasela and Jordan. Also “his girls”; Nia, Chantel and Karen from Visiting Angels for their special care and love.Service Information
