Elaine Jenson Klotovich passed away June 29, 2023, with family by her side as a result of a fall and hip fracture. She was born October 30, 1938, in Murray, Utah to John Calvin Jenson and Evelyn H. Jenson Wallace.
Elaine first met her sweetheart Mark Klotovich Jr. on the stairs at Jordan High School. Although they had never met, she told herself she would marry that guy. Fate would have it that Mark didn’t know how to dance (Jitterbug) and Elaine was an accomplished dancer. He was nervous to ask her out and asked his sister Mary-Lynn to teach him how to dance. His sister said he wasn’t a good student but managed to learn well enough so that he and Elaine could go dancing at Saltair. They married on Aug. 2, 1957, and moved to Logan, Utah where Mark played basketball (scholarship) and boxed. When Elaine watched Mark box in the Field House, she was surprised that he won as his face was covered in blood. While Mark was finishing school, she worked at Thiokol in Tremonton where she and her friend drove a VW on snowy roads a long distance. She said it was a miracle that they never crashed.
Their sons Kevan and Lance were born in Logan. They moved to West Jordan where they started a mink farm and Mark taught at Midvale Jr. High. This is where Sherese was born. Elaine got a job in data processing at South Temple in Salt Lake for U and I Sugar. She was one of the few women who worked full time while raising a family. It is a wonder how she was able to keep a spotless house, cook gourmet food, and run a household.
In later years, Elaine and Mark transformed their vast yard into a gardening wonderland. At one point, they had 100 pots of flowers aside from the many flower beds. Passersby would stop and admire their yard. Soon, people were driving from elsewhere to visit the Klotovich Garden.
Charity was a hallmark of Elaine and Mark’s character. They found great happiness in helping others by taking bread or ice cream to neighbors. Their example of giving is a lesson for all who know them and will live on as inspiration to many.
Sadly, after Mark passed in 2019 Elaine’s grief could not be quenched. She missed Markey every day and couldn’t wait to be reunited with him. It makes one heart smile to picture Elaine and Mark dancing the Jitterbug in heaven.
Elaine is survived by her children, Kevan (Kellie) Klotovich and Sherese Klotovich (Brad) Merrill; grandchildren: Amie, Michael, and Ben, Klotovich; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Marlene Drake; and brothers, Lee Jenson and Daryl Jenson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Markey her husband, son Lance (Georgia), Klotovich and brothers Neil and Curt Jenson.
