Elaine Larsen Evans
1934~2013
Elaine passed away 9 August 2013 after suffering many years with a neuromuscular disease. She was born 27 March 1934 to James LeRoy and Hulda Adeline Loftus Larsen in Logan, UT. She obtained her education there, including three years at Utah State. During her college years, she met and fell in love with Paul William Evans and was married in the Logan Temple on 11 June 1954, for time and all eternity. They lived in Logan, UT; El Paso, TX; Pacifica, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT, before finally settling in Holladay, UT.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and
faithfully served in the Primary, Sunday School, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations and the Church German Extraction Program. She also served with her husband at the Utah State Prison for three years and then as missionaries in an inner-city mission with him for 1 ½ years. She loved studying the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other standard works of the church.
She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and supported them as much as she possibly could.
Elaine enjoyed playing the piano; singing in quartets and choirs; traveling with family to Yellowstone, Death Valley and St George; oil painting, sewing, knitting, making crafts, playing sports and serving in the community.
She is survived by her loving, devoted husband and caregiver, Paul; her children: Paulette, Deborah &Loren Davis, John & Dale Evans; grandchildren: Dustin & Christina Davis, Josh & Kate Davis, Brian Evans, Tyler & Amber Davis, Matt Davis and Stefanie & Trevor Colf; great-grandchildren: Kennidee Evans, Monroe Evans, Logan Davis, Rome Davis, and Sawyer Davis; her sisters: Kathleen (John) Follett and Midge (Darryl) Hazelgren. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Special thanks to the folks at Gentiva (VistaCare) in-home Hospice who lovingly and respectfully cared for her during the last two years (especially Susan, Sue, Barbara, Heather, Jon, & Richard).
Elaine is in our hearts forever and we look forward to being with her again. In lieu of flowers she would love donations made to the General Missionary or Humanitarian Funds of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
