Edy Wright, born on Feb 26th 1932, passed away on January 21st, 2025 at her home.
Edy Wright’s life’s work was constantly changing. Many things were forced on her by the uncontrollable events of life, but Edy was magnificent in shaping her own destiny through hard work, adhering to her own set of principles, and reinforcing those principles with a faith in God that anchored her against the trials life delivered to her.
Edy started her life in the Kingdom of Denmark in a small town near Odense, in 1932. She was the third child at the time, and two more siblings would soon follow. In the aftermath of WW2, she left home to work at the age of 14. She was armed only with the housekeeping skills her mother taught her, her own internal principles, and her faith in Christ that she found within the Danish Folk Church. Edy believed in constantly improving herself, and soon she moved to Sweden where she found her passion in life and decided to study to become a nurse. Academics was only part of her life, as she developed a love of the natural world, and continued curiosity for new places and adventures.
Edy’s faith and abilities as a nurse eventually enable her to emigrate to the USA, where she then found employment at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah. Edy rejoiced in the beauty of her new home, learned to ski, explore the southern deserts, as well as our countries National Parks. She never looked back on her decision to leave Denmark and become a US citizen, however the ties to beloved family back in Denmark continued until her passing. Edy met her husband, Dennis Wright, in 1963, and was soon married in the LDS temple. A family of two children, Lisa & Stan soon followed that union. Edy continued her work as a nurse but expanded her life’s work to share all her passions with her husband and children. Among all Edy’s passions outside of home & family, was her work in her garden was the greatest. She made it her personal garden of “Edy”. The seasonal ebb and flow of the life in her garden gave her opportunity to find meaningful work every day of her life. The gardens beauty reflected the beauty and order of her life. Edy’s ability expand and adapt her life’s work to new situations led to a legacy of remembrances her children & grandchildren will carry throughout their lives. She will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren as a storyteller and a dedicated worker, and by her husband as his beloved, chosen by God for each other.
Edy finished her life in epic fashion. She filled her cup of life with the big pieces first, after that the smaller parts, then the granular hobbies and interests filled her life as it changed over time. Every piece was a story to learn from. She passed away on January 21st, suddenly & peacefully, in the mere blink of an eye really. She is now at rest in an eternal & timeless home, and she is with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
We love you Edy, we will miss you and savor all the love and memories we share of you always.
