Edwin Ziegler, age 91, just after the clock struck midnight on his 91st birthday, passed away. He died on February 25, 2016 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on February 25, 1925 in Poland to Jan Ziegler and Natalia Lorenc.
At the age of 18, Edwin joined the Polish army. His military service took him to England where he met and married the love his life, Sheila Bardell. They were married on December 26, 1953. They had two daughters and later immigrated to America to be closer to the LDS Church.
Edwin was always a dedicated and hard-working man, at times holding down three jobs. He worked as a machinist for over 40 years. He was an avid gardener. His roses were so beautiful people would often stop and admire them. He was very active and walked five miles a day well into his 80’s. He loved to travel and saw many amazing places. In the last two months of his life he traveled to Las Vegas and went on a cruise. If the Jazz were playing, he was on a chair directly in front of the TV and no one was allowed to talk. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by daughter Joanne Perry, grandchildren Natalie (Shawn) Griffel, Michael Perry, and Heather Perry, great grandsons Nicholas and Tyler Griffel and Joshua Ayala. He is preceded in death by his wife Sheila and his daughter Helen.
