Edwin Kennedy

February 6, 1932 — August 10, 2015

Edwin John Kennedy, 83, passed away Monday morning with his wife by his side. Born February 6, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA to John Donald Kennedy and Elizabeth M. Moore, Ed graduated from South High School in 1952, setting records in track and field. After graduation, Ed served an LDS mission to Texas-Louisiana from 1952 to 1954. Upon return he married his sweetheart Suzanne Robbins, recently celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary. Ed was proud to serve in the U.S. Air Force and later working with the government in rocket design and the State of Utah in roadway design. He loved the Gospel and served in many callings including bishops’ counselor, temple worker and a mission with Suzanne to the Manhattan Temple. They are proud parents of five sons, and one beautiful daughter; Todd (Lorraine), Jon (Sheryl), Christopher (Linda), Troy, Kyle, Kandis (Steven Orchard), and one lovely foster daughter Deborah Groves. Ed loved his family and was the loving Grandfather of 19 and Great Grandfather of 15, “Papa-Ed” to many, who were enraptured by his “little boy” tales. Ed also had a sister, Lorraine Bush, and sister-in-law Donna Kennedy. Ed was preceded in death by his father, step-father Denny Moore, mother and brother, Ronald. A dedicated husband and father, Ed will be missed. Thanks to the caregivers that helped him including Robin and Jamie from Hospice. Family and friends are invited to the viewing and funeral services on Saturday August 15, 2015 at the Ensign Stake Center, 135 A Street, Salt Lake City UT 84103; viewing, 9:45 – 11:15 with funeral services beginning at 12:00 noon.
