Edward Rawlins Anderson

April 2, 1947 — April 27, 2019

Edward Rawlins Anderson II, 72, passed away April 27, 2019 surrounded by his family after a long fight with cancer. He was born in Santa Cruz California April 2, 1947 to Edward Rawlins and Nancy Anderson. He married his eternal companion of 47 years, Lorna Marie Blackwelder, on May 27, 1971 in the LDS Oakland Temple. Ed grew up working side by side with his mother and father in their mattress factory, where he developed a strong work ethic that proved to be an asset throughout his life. Other youthful interests were listening to the San Francisco Giants on the radio, surfing, playing baseball and tennis and being pursued by the young ladies.
Ed was motivated to lead a successful life. He received his undergraduate degree from BYU and a Masters Degree in Sociology from the University of Utah. Ed worked as a guidance counselor at the Salt Lake Community College for 32 years while owning several businesses, including Utah’s first and largest baseball card shop with business partner Joey Casey.
Ed had a passion for the great outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing. He was obsessed with garage sales and could never be without a “secret stash” of candy, especially his favorite, black licorice.
What mattered most to Ed was his family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he was a full time missionary, a leader in the young men’s organization and a Bishop for the Valley Park Ward in Taylorsville, Utah, where he loved serving the members.
Ed was a trusted brother, committed spouse, loving father, proud grandfather and devout friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife Lorna, children: Corey; Brooke (Jason Maxwell); Nathan (Katie Allen); Tasha (Matt Snow); and eighteen grandchildren. Ed is survived by his brother Jeff and sister Nancy Jo.
