Edward Newton Raiser, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was reunited with his eternal companion of 63 years on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the age of 84. Born on August 29, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Newton and Laura Raiser. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and married his sweetheart, Loraine, on May 19, 1951. He graduated from the University of Illinois and later served in the US Air Force. Ed was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed in the Logan, Utah temple to Loraine and his children. Ed was a hard worker who served wholeheartedly in every calling he had. He served as a Bishop and most recently loved his calling as High Priest Secretary. He was employed by Western Electric (later becoming AT&T) for over 20 years and owned E & L Aircraft. Edward enjoyed many happy trips in his RV, on his motorcycles, in his airplane, or just going for a scenic drive. He was always the life of the party and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to visit and talk with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Edward is survived by his children, Louise Metcalf (Ray), Ginny, and Aaron; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Monday, May 12th, 1 – 3 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. with private family services to follow. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
