Edward Lindsay Carlisle

Our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend Edward Lindsay Carlisle passed away July 19, 2021, to join his loved ones in a much awaited reunion. Born August 10, 1933 to Edward Crandall Carlisle and Pricilla Lindsay Carlisle in Salt Lake City, Lindsay attended Granite and South High School in Salt Lake City. He met the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Carla Olsen, in 1950. These high school sweethearts were married in 1952 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Lindsay was a charismatic and well-respected business owner, following in his father’s footsteps into the clothing manufacturing industry. His pride and joy was his MBA from the University of Utah, earned in 1965 and put to good use for the rest of his life. With their four children, Lindsay and Carla lived in and served communities in Salt Lake City, Manti, and Orem, Utah before retiring in their dream home in the foothills of Cottonwood Heights, Utah. To know Lindsay was to love him. He was a gifted conversationalist, a lover and patron of the arts, a great world traveller, and the most supportive and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather anyone could wish for. Family was everything to him, and the lives of all his family members will never be the same thanks to his warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love and support. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister, and a daughter, Lari (Tom) Smith and survived by his wife Carla, his half-brother David Carlisle, his children Greg (Debi) Carlisle, Kelly (David) Thacker, and Sharon (Jeff) Hesselbacher, and his 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Monday, July 26 from 6:00-8:00 and Tuesday the 27th from 1:00-2:00 followed by the funeral services at 2:00 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. Internment will be at Memorial Mountain Mountain View Cemetery.
