Edna Lucille Balfour McKinley passed away peacefully June 23, 2024 at the age of 93. Edna was born in Buena Vista, Utah to Olive and Ronald Balfour on December 16, 1930. She was married and sealed to Richard Collings McKinley on June 20, 1952 and had three children together: Kent, Cindy and Craig.
Edna was a caretaker. She loved making sure others were taken care of and was always concerned about their well-being. Her house and yard were immaculate. She loved tending to her flowers and she was a master sweeper. Many nice sunny days she could be found out in her yard sweeping and visiting with her neighbors. She loved her neighbors and had several close friends in the neighborhood they spent 51 years in. She traveled many places during her lifetime but Hawaii was her favorite. After retirement she fell in love with cross-stitching and would spend hours crafting many pieces that lined the walls of her house and friends and family. She also collected teddy bears and had shelves of them. You could always plan on leaving with a teddy bear. Edna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent time in various positions serving those around her. She loved the gospel and studying it. Much of her work was around the home when she was young, but as her children grew older, she went to work for Murdock Travel where she retired from. If you enjoyed time with her recently, you would find that Golden Double Stuf Oreos were her meal of choice.
Edna lived a long and beautiful life but had recently started suffering from dementia and was ready to leave and be reunited with loved ones on the other side. After spending 72 years together, Edna only had to spend 6 weeks without her sweetheart and eternal companion Richard McKinley, who she joined just 2 days after what would have been there 72nd wedding anniversary. We are sure she is celebrating and having a joyful reunion with those on the other side.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard McKinley, her parents Ronald and Olive Balfour, her sister Phyllis Roosendaal, and her son Craig McKinley whom she has longed to see since his passing 12 years ago.
She is survived by her children Kent (Vickie) McKinley, Cindy (Brent) Greenwall, grandchildren; Shana, Brindy, Briana, Shaylyn, Cierra, 6 great-grandchildren, and Wally Balfour (Kathi) her brother.
We would like to thank and express our sincere appreciation to Intermountain Health hospice for the care they provided to our mom and grandmother these past 6 weeks.
