Edith Larae Wickens

January 7, 1933 — September 2, 2016

Edith LaRae Lockman Wickens (LaRae), our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully On September 2, 2016 in West Valley City. LaRae was born on January 7, 1933 in Salt Lake City, UT to Edgar Lyman Lockman and Gertrude Neves Lockman. As a child she loved spending time in Millville, UT with her twin brother Buddy (Edgar Leroy Lockman) at their grandparents’ home. As an adult, Mom loved reading mysteries, and according to her, anytime spent with Agatha Christie was time well spent! One of her greatest joys was spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she just loved the energy that children bring! She was a bowler, an animal lover and quite the traveler including many cruises, vacations to California, and camping with her husband. She was kind, loving, and generous all wrapped up in a package of wit and little sass. LaRae married James Forrest Wickens in Salt Lake City on April 11, 1953. Together they had three boys, many pets and a very happy life. They were married for nearly 50 years and faithful companions until the end. Preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Gertrude Lockman, husband James Forrest Wickens, infant son LaRoy, son David Roy Wickens, brother Buddy (Edgar LeRoy Lockman), brother Arthur Lockman, and sister (and best friend) Betty Jean Patterson, as well as furry companions Belle and Delilah. Survived by her sons, Michael (Michele) Wickens, Raymond (Barbara) Wickens and sister Marie Eitner. Also survived by 11grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff, and the amazing nurses in the memory care ward at Tradition Assisted Living and Memory Care, your kindness and care for our mom will never be forgotten.
