Edith Elfriede Holtkamp, 92, passed away on February 1, 2025, in her home in Taylorsville, Utah. She was born on August 11, 1932, in Herne, Germany, to Alfred Fritz and Frieda Ida Heider.
Edith married Dieter Hermann Holtkamp on October 18, 1952, after she followed him to Canada. They settled in Calgary, Alberta, and were married in the Cardston Alberta Temple. They eventually moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where Edith peacefully lived out the rest of her life.
Edith loved to knit and crochet. She made many beautiful blessing outfits for all of her grandchildren. She loved to travel and sight-see, especially the National Parks in Utah, which she traveled with her best friend Rose. She also loved to dance. Many dance halls would clear the floor to watch Edith and Dieter dance. Edith was also a wonderful cook, especially in German cuisine, which was better than that in restaurants.
Edith is survived by her sons, Michael (Jerryl), Ralf (LuAnn), and Peter; daughter Elisabeth (Merlin); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dieter Holtkamp; mother and father Elfrieda and Alfred Heider; sister Hannelore Brandt; and great-granddaughter Ashley Holtkamp.
The family would like to thank Travis and Andie Holtkamp, Vanessa Perfili, Sam and Dakota Holtkamp, and Gabbi Holtkamp for their love and devotion watching over Edith these last years. Their care allowed her to live years longer and to die in her own home.
