It is with great sadness to announce the passing of a great brother, uncle, and friend but most of all a father. Eddie was born April 1, 1953 in the Bronx to Fernando Baez and Aurora Castro. He is the oldest of his four siblings, Willie, Jorge, Lilly and Raul. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his son and family.
Anyone who knew Eddie knew he loved sports. He was a devoted Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs and black hawks fan, as well as the Utah Jazz. He earned his master’s degree in social work in August 1988 from the University of Utah and was awarded the recognition of the title nine award in 97-98 and was also the title nine Indian education committee chair person. He also had a bachelor’s degree in arts. Eddie did so much for his community, generously donating his time and money to different organizations throughout his life.
Eddie was an amazing father to his son Andrew and devoted his entire life to him. They loved going to Jazz games and watching sports together. He was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage and embraced his son’s Native American blood, making sure Andrew was proud of his Puerto Rican and native blood. They truly were best friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fernando Baez and Aurora Castro, and is survived by his son Andrew, brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews and numerous friends and his dog Kush.
