Eckerson passed away on August 1, 2020, in South Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on January 14, 1979, to Andrew A. Begay and Rachael Ashley Reyes in Gallup, New Mexico. Eckerson was an energetic young man, liked drawing, music, riding bikes, weight lifting, and tattoos. He was married to DeAndra Holliday at the time of his passing.
Eckerson completed high school and went on to complete some college courses. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew A. Begay, paternal grandparents: Kenneth and Alice Begay, uncle; Edison Begay, maternal grandparents: Danny and Darlene Thomas and other grandparents: Larry Ashley and Johnny Ashley.
Eckerson is survived by his mother; Rachael A. Reyes, step-dad; Wilson Reyes, sisters: Mildred Holmes and Romanda Hernandez, brother; Austin Begay, 10 nieces, 9 nephews, 3 stepdaughters: Derica Begay, Khloe Begay, and Demita Pedro Mateo and 2 step grandkids.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the mortuary and again on Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:45 AM prior to graveside services. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 and to ensure an abundance of caution for the safety and wellbeing of everyone, we are only allowing 50 people in the building at a time. More family and friends will be able to attend graveside services as long as everyone practices social distancing. We do require a mask for all of those in attendance. We thank you for your cooperation during this unprecedented time.
