“Awesome Man”
Earl LeRoy Mietchen, age 84, passed away March 27, 2014. Born May 18, 1929 in Kelso, WA to Curtis E. and Myrtle Viola Burgin Mietchen. He married the love of his life, Darlene L. Anderson on February 24, 1954.
Earl was raised mostly in North Dakota and Tooele, UT. After high school, Dad joined the U.S. Coast Guard were he trained in commissary man school. Honorably discharged to help his father farm in Joseph, UT. Dad received his journeyman certificate as a carpenter in May 1956. Many ventures entail farming, ranching, and settling into carpentry. His highlights were ground breaking Snowbird and Deer Valley, and many more landmarks throughout the state. Dad retired having many happy years at his cabin hunting, fishing and being with family.
Survived by his children, Bernie (Mary), Jackie (Steven-deceased), Kenny (Suzzie), and Tammy (Mike); grandchildren, Kiersten (Saber), Jared (Lacey), Justin (Denise), Brandon (Candice), Bradley, Matt (Katt), Crystal, Colby, Brandon (Jamilyn), and Tyler (Kenzie); 17 great-grandchildren with Aziz on the way; brother, Robert (Pat) and sister in law, Colleen. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Darlene; brothers, Jerome and Ray; great-grandson, Brydan.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road with viewings from 6-8:00 pm on Sunday and one hour prior to the graveside on Monday. Online condolences may be shared at www.redwoodmortuary.com.
