Earl Brown

Roland was born to Robert Lynn Brown and the late Jennie Hadlock Brown in San Manuel, Arizona on June 18, 1960. His siblings are Rob, Paul, Cheryl, Aaron, and Jared J.
Roland Brown married Shauna Lee Patterson Cach on July 9th, 1988. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their marriage is a tender love story. The way they honored each other and sacrificed for each other for 25 years is a perfect example of true love. They have seven beautiful children. Their oldest, Tikla Fife, recently gave birth to Roland’s first grandchild, James Luther Fife.
He was a persistent learner. As evidence to this, he earned a Doctor of Education in Education Administration, a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics, and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics. He applied his knowledge through teaching, entrepreneurship, program conception and development, leadership, program assessment, grant writing, and public relations. He took great interest in the needs of each of his students.
Roland means “wanderer” and true to his name, his grow up in Baghdad, Iraq; Brasilia, Brazil; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Bogota, Colombia. In his adult life, he served an LDS mission in Nagano, Japan. He found and courted his wife Shauna in Monmouth, Oregon and took her with him to Taipei, Taiwan; Tifton, Georgia; Lewiston, Idaho; Highland, Utah; North Salt Lake, Utah; Seoul, South Korea; Rexburg, Idaho; and Saipan, Marianas Pacific. The Brown family currently resides in Cedar City, Utah.
He was a participant and patron of the arts particularly painting, drawing, music, singing, and theater, a gift he shared with his children. Ancient Japanese and Israelite connections fascinated him; he passionately shared his rich knowledge of history, cultures and linguistics. Shauna fell in love with Roland as she watched him teach. Whether he was teaching a family home evening lesson or a university course, his talent for teaching with clarity and sincerity was inspiring. He left every room, country, person, and family a little better than he found them.
Roland taught the gospel all over the world in word and in how he lived. His perfect faith was evident as he faced death without the slightest fear. He taught his family to become better, kinder people while loving, working and living for them. He prayed every day to endure well; his prayer was answered.
Roland loved his wife most of all.
