Dr. Grace Zuckerman
October 15, 1931 — June 7, 2018
It is with deep regret we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, counselor and friend, Dr. Grace Zuckerman of Holladay, Utah.
She was born in Manhattan, NY, to Dora Karp and Benjamin Fiering on October 15, 1931 and had five children; Lynn, Barbara, Steven, Susan and Richard, and four grandchildren; Ben, Sean KateLynn and Thomas.
Grace devoted her professional life to helping children achieve learning standards that would help them throughout their educational careers.
She attended Penn State University and graduated from Brockport, NY Teachers College, Master’s Degree in Education at Lehman College. Dr. Grace received her Dr. of Education, degree from Fordham University in N.Y., in language learning, linguistics, and literary acquisition.
Dr. Grace worked as a Reading/Learning Disability Specialist in the Mayflower School in New Rochelle, N.Y., and Reading/Learning Disability Specialist – Teacher in Scarsdale Middle School in Scarsdale, N. Y. She was Director, Diagnostic Clinic for learning disabilities at College of New Rochelle and Adjunct Professor Graduate Dept Spec Education, City University of N.Y., Lehman College, Bronx, N.Y.
In retirement, Dr. Grace and her husband Paul moved to Holladay where she became Assistant Professor, Master of Education program at Westminster College; was principal of the Guadalupe School, and a long term member of the Board of Trustees of the Utah Disability Law Center.
She is survived by her husband, all of her children and grandchildren.
Dr. Zuckerman’s contribution to helping children with learning disabilities shall live in memory. Contributions in Grace’s name to Utah Disability Law Center will be appreciated.
The ceremony on Grace’s behalf will be held Sunday, June 24, at 1:00 pm. A gathering will be held beforehand at 12 Noon at the Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive, Holladay, UT 84117. Memories may be shared at www.memorialutah.comService Information
