Douglas M Simmons passed away January 9th 2018 in Salt Lake City Utah. Doug leaves behind a legacy. The love for his family and friends. Never would his door be closed for someone, anyone that needed a place to stay.
His strength in overcoming incredible difficulties in life and never giving up. His sacrifices he has made for others. If you needed anything, anything at all Doug would take his own expecting nothing in return then quietly work longer hours and a few more extra days just so he could replace it. Those of us that were lucky enough were given his special smile. A smile like no other with his rosy red cheeks that twinkle in his eyes which brings to his last, most precious gift of all – Donation. His donation will allow the gift of sight for two others.
He is preceded in death by his mother Irene Annie Clark, his father George Herbert Simmons and his younger brother Kenneth Lee Clark.
Doug is survived by a family that loved him and many friends he has met along his way in life. Our family wishes to think Landmark Hospital for the care in his last days. Doctor Hammon and Barbie his nurse.
No words can express our gratitude and gratefulness for the care he was given. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who he holds a true love for. In his last years Doug returned to weekly services that made a huge impact in giving the peace and comfort in knowing he was in no better hands than that of his Heavenly Father’s. To his true friends that visited regularly taking him to movies, shopping or just hanging out. To Lance Brown your comfort given by being by his side and Blayde Crockett the cowboy stories and songs discussing childhood memories but most of all we are thankful for the support given in his final moments. You brought comfort as we held his hands, talked to him and sang to him “I am a child of God” as Grandma Hendrickson waited for him so she could walk with him home where there would be one hell of a celebration!!Service Information
