Douglas Lynnwood Mears Jr passed away on February 28, 2022 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born on July 29, 1939, in Salt Lake City to Douglas Lynwood Sr. and Barbara Mears. He married Sharon Janene Neeley on June 20, 1959
He was a Drill Master for West High’s ROTC and earned many top awards. After high school, he was sought after by WestPoint, but declined as he was needed in Utah for his growing family. Our dad loved racing cars and “twisting bolts,” as he called being a mechanic. In fact, he had he had his own mechanic shop for many years. Dad also worked at UDOT and because of his personality, was named “Captain Weird.” He wore this title proudly, choosing to take it as a good thing. Dad worked two jobs just to make sure us kids never went without. He was a good dad. He is survived by his sons; Tracy dougles Mears, Todd Jeffrey Mears, Chanse Terrell (Kristy) Mears, Daughter, Lisa (Ralph) Symes and his loving sister Pamela Ann Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon and his parents.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7th at 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Murray Mortuary – 5850 S 900 E, Murray, Utah. Interment to follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery – 3115 E Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights, Utah
