Douglas Hyrum Steck

March 10, 1940 — September 30, 2017

Douglas passed away September 30, 2017 surrounded by family after a long and arduous battle with Parkinson’s disease with Lewy Body Dementia.
Douglas was born March 10, 1940 in Centerfield, Utah on his grandparent’s farm to Moyle Scow Steck and Viva Caldwell Steck.
Dad was a born leader, serving as his senior class president at Gunnison Valley High School. Dad married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Elmen. With much love and respect they celebrated 59 years together.
Our Dad was honest, loyal, wise, very loving, hardworking, stern, but fair-always giving a hand to those he loved; a friend to all. If you knew him you were the lucky one.
Douglas was very respected by his co-workers at Sperry Univac and Fairchild. A total perfectionist in all that he did. Dad took much pride in his family and home.
We want to publically acknowledge and thank our Mother for all of her love and care for our father as he battled this disease for 10 years.
Douglas leaves behind his wife, Colleen; children Trent Steck, Connie (Steve) Hardy, Brandi (Jared) Wendrich, grandson J.P., who he considered a son; brother John Steck; sister Janette Eatchel; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a very special lifelong friend, Roger Hyatt.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive with viewings Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and 1 hour prior all at the same location. Entombment will be at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 S Memory Lane (1990 E). Memories may be shared at www.memorialutah.com.
We will greatly miss his example, work ethic, witty personality and generous love. He loved his family above all!
