Douglas Edward Tuite

d. January 8, 2021

Douglas Edward Tuite was born on October 30, 1948 to Edward Thomas and Joan Elizabeth Tuite at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. He was brought up in Demarest, NJ and graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School. Doug attended Duquesne University in Pittsburg. His lifelong career was in Computer Technology.
Doug met Susan Rita Fitzpatrick in 1969. It was during Doug’s basic training in the NJ National Guard that he knew that he did not want to be apart from Susan again. They were married July 17, 1971. It would have been 50 years together this year. Eleven years later he was blessed with daughter Randi Catherine and then four years later Suzanne Rita.
Doug’s lifelong dream was to have his children experience a different lifestyle. In January 1992 he quit his job in New Jersey and moved the family to SLC, Utah to begin a new adventure!  Be careful what you wish for….  he missed the Jersey Shore. Thank God for his sons in law Jonathan Roatcap (Randi) and Parker Checketts (Suzanne) along with Doug’s cherished grandson Nathan Douglas Roatcap who all love the shore! Doug loved the New York Rangers, New York Mets, horse races, Las Vegas, football, and above all, #1 grandson Nathan!
Along with Doug’s wife and daughters he is survived by his sister Kim Powell (Steve) and beautiful nieces Kristen Rupert and Katherine Rupert.
We will always cherish Doug’s last few days. Doug requested to be at home with his girls, “no cry fest”, no funeral or fussing. Doug listened as Randi and Suzanne played all his favorite show tunes and sang his favorites to him! The Temptations Greatest Hits, Avenue Q, “It Sucks to Be Me”, The Book of Mormon, “Hello”, “Turn it off like a light bulb”.
Doug, a man of few words…. with a sharp sense of humor…. has left a legacy of love and tremendous support. One family member said, “Actions spoke louder than words.” Whenever anyone needed help, he was there, no strings attached. Quiet Love.
Thank You for taking care of us, dear Doug.
Job Well Done.
Rest in Peace.
A special thank you to AFI Hospice for all of their tender loving care.
