Dottie Gene Black Jessop was born on December 9th, 1941, in Spokane Washington, to DeWayne Eugene Black and Anna Mae Nelson. She passed away in the home of her youngest son Jeremy, in Wellton, AZ on March 25, 2025, at the age of 83.
Her father was in the United States Army and was deployed overseas where he lost his life in the services of his country in February 1942, he was 21 years old, Dottie was three months old.
She was raised by her maternal grandparents Helding and Maude Nelson, in Salt Lake City, where she met and married Michael R. Jessop in November 1961. They had five children together in eight years, one in Connecticut, two in Florida, and two in Utah. They later divorced in 1974.
Dotttie went to the Salt Lake Community College before landing a career with the United States Postal Service as a clerk where she worked amazingly for 30 years before retiring, all while raising five young children to adulthood and beyond.
She loved her grandchildren more than anything and was always interested in how and what they were doing.
She will be greatly missed. We love you, mom and grandma.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, half-brothers Michael Baker, and Robert Baker, and half-sister Diane Baker.
She is survived by her children, son Justin, daughter Gena Argyle (Clark), son Matt, son Jon (Jennifer), and son Jeremy. Sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Two half-brothers Benjamin Baker and Cat (Thomas) Baker, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and others, who called her MOM.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah. You may visit with the family at a viewing on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and prior to services on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Memorial Murray Mortuary. Interment following services on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
