Preceded in death by his wife Maryln (December 22, 2018), parents Gerald Rose Sr. & Ruth Elvora Match, brothers; Gerald Rose Jr, James Lamar Rose, Larrence Dale Rose, and Jack Wayne Rose.
Don was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and a graduate from West High School.
Dorvin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from June 9, 1954 to June 9, 1957 as a Non-Commissioned Officer.
Don married the love of his life Maryln Rae Farnes on October 4, 1958.
Don and Maryln celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to mom’s passing. They invested their lives in raising their family. She preceded him in death exactly one year to the date, he missed her so.
They were sealed as an eternal family in the Salt Lake Temple on July 5, 1965.
Don earned a certificate in electronics at Utah Technical College. He enjoyed a hobby of repairing televisions and radios back when they still had tube components in them.
Don worked in the iron manufacturing industry for over 30 years and then retired from Toole Army Depot.
Dad’s life was a life of service. He spent a great deal of time working to represent his coworkers as a union representative. He spent many a summer vacation as a scout leader.
Don was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life and served many callings, ward clerk, scout master and missionary.
His work as a father and grandfather caring for each of us never stopped. His life plans were put on hold as he continued to fill his responsibility as the family patriarch and leader.
His love for mom was openly expressed as he adorned her with jewelry to celebrate their special occasions and just because he loved her.
They learned how to create jewelry in community school. They enjoyed a hobby of creating beautiful jewelry.
He never wanted to be a burden on anybody. In fact, he did not want to burden us with a funeral. It is our honor to show our love and respect to him as we gather as friends and family today.
Our hearts are deeply saddened at his loss, but we are happy beyond measure that he has been reunited with his beloved Marlyn along with loved ones that have preceded him in death.
With sincere gratitude, the family expresses appreciation to all who loved, served, and cared for Don.
