Dorothy Garner Winter
1921 – 2014
Our dear sweet mother Dorothy Garner Winter died at the home of her daughter Karen Helton, who lovingly welcomed her into her home years ago. Dorothy was born in Rexburg, Idaho on August 10, 1921, into the best family a person could ever ask for. Her parents, George and Myrtle Garner filled her life with lots of love and laughter, security, gospel teaching and a passion to love and serve the lord and one another. She was blessed to have two sisers, Norma Garner Johnson, Barbara Garner Bertosh and three brothers, Darrel, Ted and Brent Garner. She married her best friend George Richard Winter, on January 4, 1944, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was blessed with two sons, Craig (Jan) and Douglas (Evelyn) Winter and three daughters, Christine (Glen) Neal, Kaye (David) Liefting and Karen (Mike) Helton.
She loved children (especially her 19 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren), the gospel of Jesus Christ, sunshine, big fluffy white clouds, sewing, cooking for family and friends, neighbors and anyone else who dropped by, getting her hands dirty planting flowers and vegetables. She will miss all her family and friends, but was so excited to renew her friendships with all those who have gone before her. When you think of her, picture her running hand in hand through a field of flowers with her sweetheart, Richard, who has been waiting for her to join him for many years. She loved us all and we loved her! Preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, Craig and daughter, Christine; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. A funeral will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the River 6th Ward, 11473 S. Chapel Ridge Drive (1080 W.), South Jordan with a viewing two hours prior at 9:00 am at the church. Interment to follow at Redwood Memorial Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Online condolences may be shared at www.redwoodmortuary.com
