Dorothy Bowland Lee, 87, peacefully returned to Heavenly Father on Monday, November 11, 2013 of natural causes. She was greeted by her brother, Charles, parents, and many friends who have long anticipated her arrival. She was one of two children born to Charles and Minnie Bowland on September 8, 1926 in Springfield, Missouri. When she first saw Leroy, she told her mother, “That’s the boy I’m going to marry.” Two years later she and Leroy were married in the Scott Air Force Base Chapel in Belleville, Illinois. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 28, 1955. Dorothy was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including stake dance director. They served missions in Nashville, Tennessee and on Temple Square in Salt Lake during the Winter Olympics. She lived her religion to the fullest and set an example for those who came in contact with her. She especially enjoyed her Relief Society sisters. Although Dorothy’s life was not decorated with awards, everyone who met her knew of her countless acts of kindness and compassion. Dorothy is survived by her eternal companion, Willard Leroy, daughters: Marsha (Larry) Johnson, Vicki (Daniel) Romero, Tracy (Lavar) Campbell, Georgia Wing, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. We will all miss her comfortable companionship and unique sense of humor. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the loving and professional staff at Alta Ridge and Millcreek Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Draper 12th Ward, 12300 S 600 E. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S 900 E, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Park, 6500 S Redwood Road in West Jordan.
WE LOVE YOU, MOM!
