Dorothy Clara Jex Brklacich

Our beautiful wife, mother, sister, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Dorothy Clara Jex Brklacich age 78 peacefully passed away January 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by family and loved ones after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Dorothy was born April 16, 1937 to Wilford and Helen Jex in Murray, Utah. Dorothy was raised in Murray and Sandy, growing up with three brothers who protected and watched over their sister.
Dorothy graduated from Jordan High school in 1955 and was known to many as “Dot.”  Dorothy then married her high school sweetheart, Larry Brklacich in April 1956. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1964. Together they enjoyed over 59 years of marriage and were coming to their 60 wedding anniversary this April.
Dorothy was very active of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dorothy enjoyed many callings always making sure she would fulfill them to her fullest. Dorothy enjoyed going to church and attending the Temple. Dorothy considered the greatest calling in life was to be the greatest mother, to always love and nurture her children was the highest priority in her life.
Dorothy was employed by Jordan School District for over 20 years as a secretary. Dorothy worked at various schools and ended up spending several years at Indian Hills Middle school where she finished her career. Dorothy was always known at work for her contagious smile and friendly happy attitude.
In Dorothy’s later years she began to struggle with Alzheimer’s and continued the fight, always smiling and wanting to know how her kids and grandkids were doing. During Dorothy’s struggle with Alzheimer’s Larry stayed by Dorothy’s side as her caregiver taking care of the love of his life.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Larry Brklacich, children Reed (Maxine) Brklacich, Danny (Brenda) Brklacich, Mark (Dee) Brklacich, Bonnie Brklacich, Jana (Alan) Kirton. Dorothy’s brothers Don (Pat) Jex and Stan (Linda) Jex. Dorothy was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Wilford and Helen Jex and Brother Keith Jex.
Love and appreciation is given to granddaughter, Hailey Stewart and OneCare Hospice who looked over and cared for Dorothy in her final time on this earth. Their compassion will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 5, 2016 at 1100 A.M, at the River Ridge 1st Ward 10124 S 1300 W. South Jordan. Prior to the funeral a viewing will be on February 4th from 6-8pm at the River Ridge 1st Chapel and on the day of the service from 9:45-10:45am.  Interment to follow the services at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights.
