Dorothea Frahm Muelleck
Dorothea Frahm Muelleck, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2022, of causes incident to age. We are grateful she is finally free of the physical pain she experienced for so long. We know she is rejoicing in her reunion with loved ones who have gone on before her.
She was born on November 29, 1925, in Husum, Germany, to Carsten Andreas Frahm and Sophie Dorothea Petersen. She was the youngest of three children. She and her brother, Thomas, were primarily raised by their single mother. Her parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was an infant. She was an active member of the Church and had a strong testimony of its truthfulness.
She met Waldemar Nikolaus Muelleck during World War II in northern Germany where they worked together in a school converted into a hospital. They married on November 2, 1946. She introduced him to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which he joined about one week prior to their marriage.
She and her husband, along with two of their children, emigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1953. She was grateful to be a citizen of the United States They were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake Temple in 1955.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. All of her grandchildren adored her and loved to visit her. They would come for sleepovers at their grandparents’ home, where she served them delicious meals and provided a lot of love. They looked forward to coming every summer for vacation and staying with the grandparents.
Even though she shied away from the limelight, she was always a caring person who was willing to listen to and serve her friends. She was also a constant support to her husband in his Church assignments and other endeavors and made it possible for him to accomplish what he did.
She served as the LDS ward librarian for many years. She was a caregiver to her mother and husband, sacrificing a lot to do so. She worked for many years in banquet catering on a part-time basis and enjoyed associations with her co-workers. Dorothea was a wonderful cook and brought her German heritage into the meals she prepared for her family. She was famous for her potato salad, German stollen, and applesauce birthday cake with whipped cream.
She is survived by her children, Renate, Wolfgang (Julie), and Robert (Annina), as well as 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, brother, and parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Wellington, the assisted living facility, where our mother lived for seven months.
