Doris Ruth Carey Lake Niebuhr born June 2, 1925 passed away from complications after a fall on May 3, 2020 in Bountiful, Utah. Doris will be missed by the family she cherished, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was fortunate to have a blended family that included the children of her second husband Walter Niebuhr. She was generous with
Her love to all who knew her. She accepted people for who they were and was nonjudgmental, a positive beacon she let her light shine.
Doris’s sister Merilyn Redmond were dedicated to one another and had an amazing bond of love that will not be broken by her passing.
Doris was an active member of the Bountiful 2nd Ward, she loved the Lord and served him in many leadership positions over the years. She was thrilled that she could attend the temple last month. She served two LDS missions with her husband Walter. She was President of the Woman’s Credit Union Association and worked for many years at First Security Bank. Doris’s first husband Carl Lake were married in 1945 until he passed away in 1987. They lived in Utah, Oregon, Idaho and Nevada. She married Walter A. Niebuhr in the Salt Lake Temple in 1989 they lived in Bountiful and St. George and enjoyed travelling in their 5th wheel and family gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her parents John M. Carey, Lalla Ruth Groom Carey.
Husbands Carl Lake 1987 and Walter Niebuhr 2008 and her sister Betty Jean Carey Niebuhr, 1988.
She will be interred at Memorial Lake View Cemetery.
A private viewing will be held at 9 A.M. on Monday, May 11, 2020 followed by a graveside service open to those who wish to attend. Social distancing will be practiced.
