Doris Mae Wainwright died peacefully on November 5, 2016 in Murray Utah at her daughter’s home. She was born February 9, 1918 in Elmira, New York to Hugh Wilson Baird Good and Martha Ellen Porter Good. Doris graduated from Elmira’s Southside High School in 1936. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Carl Wainwright. During WW11, while Carl served in the ski troops, Doris worked for Eclipse Machine Company making airplane parts to help the war effort. She felt, her most rewarding job was working for Chemung County as a health aid, were she served the elderly and handicapped of the county.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, brother (Hugh Wilson Baird Good Jr.) and her sons-in-law; Don Cromar and Kenneth Shon. She is survived by her sister, Jean Vantine, daughter, Penni Cromar, grandsons; Marek Shon and his family, Jonathan Cromar and Alexander Cromar, her step-grandchildren; David Cromar, Ron Cromar, Steven Cromar, Kathy Chambers, Karen Janson and Colleen Magriplis, and her nieces; Lauralee Howley and Sue Broska, and their families.
Doris had an indomitable positive spirit through her failing years, offering a warm friendly smile to all who visited her. She was kind and loving, and will be missed.
A memorial service will be held in Murray Utah at the Little Cottonwood 9th Ward church building on November 14th at 10:00am. Since Doris lived in Elmira for the first 85 years of her life, a memorial service will also be held in Elmira at Woodlawn Cemetery, where she will buried. The service will be on Dec. 7th at 10:00am.
