Doris June Metz passed away on April 23, 2018, in Murray, UT. Doris was born on October 10, 1933, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Wallace Paul Holdaway and Geneva Alice Green. She met and later married Eldon Metz on October 29, 1955 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Doris loved her family very much, she loved to help others, search in her word search books, and always made sure to never miss the wrestling matches. She also loved playing bingo at the care center, was an avid animal lover (especially cats), and her favorite flowers were purple carnations. She took great joy in riding in her grandson Mike’s beautiful red car. Doris was very talented in the art of embroidery, often making doilies, pillow cases, dish towels, and table runners for her house and for others. It was also a tradition amongst Doris and her 4 sisters growing up to iron transfers onto pillow cases and dish towels to later embroider them as a gift to friends and family on their wedding day.
On January 11, 1957, Doris and Eldon brought their beautiful and sweet daughter Linn Metz into the world. Growing up, Linn was spoiled by her parents, especially her dad. He was a painter by trade and Linn would go to work with him as his little helper. As a reward, Eldon would take her to the ice cream parlor for a nice, cool treat. Doris loved her daughter so very much and they were extremely close throughout the years.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon, her parents, 4 sisters, and 4 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Linn Wall (David), sister Ronda Holdaway, grandchildren Michael Metz and Marcos Caballero, and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on May 19, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary located at 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, UT. Cremation is to follow services. The family wishes to thank the Woodland Park Care Center in Salt Lake City for their tender care and thoughtfulness.
