Dora Jane Bowcutt, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on November 29, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been reunited with her husband, Harry Duane Bowcutt, who she married on June 22, 1963. Their union was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Jane was born on March 28, 1934 in Monticello, UT to Carlos and Julia Hyde.
Jane graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1956. After graduation she was dedicated to her career as a teacher. She chose to work with young children because they brought her so much joy. During her own children’s school years, she set aside her career to assist in the PTA and in other various roles at their school. As her children grew older she returned to work at a day care center. After retiring Jane spent many years volunteering with the Senior Center and the South Salt Lake Lion’s Club which she greatly enjoyed with Duane. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and was involved in the Primary and Relief Society.
She is survived by her two children; Ed (Brenda) Bowcutt and Rachel (Jose) Reyes, three sisters; Annie Broderick, Claire Jeppson, and Carolyn Johnson-Marshall, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and two sisters; Beverly Jorgensen and Virginia Miller Titus.
