Dora A. Velarde 1930 – 2022
Dora, age 91, joined the love of her life of 56 years, Medardo, on August 5, 2022, in West Jordan, UT surrounded by her family. She was born on August 25, 1930 in El Valle, New Mexico to Rubel Aguilar, Refugio A. Aguilar (known to all of her grandchildren as Grandma Hoo Hoo). She married Medardo Velarde, July 23, 1949. She and her husband moved to Utah from New Mexico in 1953 where they built their home together. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, fishing, hunting, and most of all spending time with family in her kitchen. She is survived by her son Larry (Doreen); her three grandchildren, Denise, (Brandon), Eric, Anthony, and four great grandchildren, Paytyn, Haven, Blayze, and Maddix. She was the last surviving sibling of seven children. She is proceeded in death by her great-grandson, Mocoy Velarde, her mother and father, one sister and five brothers. We would like to express our appreciation, gratitude and thanks to Jazmine, Maria, Amy, and Chris, our special caregivers, for the love and care that they showed Dora over the last four years and Renew Hospice for the last two years. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, August 11th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South 1700 West, West Jordan. A viewing will be held that morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before mass. Internment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
