Dora A. Norton

October 3, 1928 — January 27, 2020

Dora A. Norton, age 91, passed away on January 27, 2020 at her home in West Valley City, Utah surrounded by her family.
Dora was born on October 3, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Golden and Annabelle Callaway, and later married Bobby G. Norton on June 2, 1956.
Dora was an avid camper and fishing enthusiast while we were growing up. She caught many prize trout in her day. She worked at several jobs including Skaggs for many years.
She and her husband volunteered at their beloved Kearns Senior Center for several years, making lifelong friends.
She loved to take trips with her husband on the Senior Tours, especially to Wendover and Laughlin, Nevada.
She enjoyed word search books, bingo, and puzzles. But, in her last few homebound years her greatest joy was playing the Skipbo card game with her family and friends as well as whomever she could cajole into shuffling the cards.
She was a fiercely protective mother with a strong sense of fairness.
Our mother was feisty and fought a valiant battle against lung disease having been on oxygen for over two decades.
Her passing has left a bottomless void in her families lives, but she had a long life, well lived.
Rest easy Mother, you and Dad are “Together Again”.
Dora is survived by her children: Danny (Dinah) Hulphers, Dennis (Carol) Hulphers, Evelyn (Jeffery) Best, Bobby G. Norton Jr., Sandy Winkler, and Jeffery (Dori) Norton, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Dick Callaway, Doug Callaway, and Lamar Callaway, sisters Ellen Coon and Deon Burr, baby daughter Vicky Norton, and Ann Marie Hulphers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM with a viewing one hour prior to the service at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Lung Association. The family would like to “Thank” Valeo Hospice for the compassionate care they gave our mother. All the nurses were wonderful, but special kudos to Sarah, who Mother loved.
