Donna Marie Ranes

It is with tears of joy and sadness that we say goodbye to our sweet mother Donna Marie Ranes. It hurt to witness the suffering she endured from Alzheimer’s and recent surgery. Our hearts were touched with her strength. We are grateful she is no longer in pain and has returned to her Father in Heaven.
Donna was born in Springfield, Illinois on July 22,1931. She later married Raymond D. Ranes in 1950 and raised five daughters. Donna’s loves were family, children, grandchildren and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved working on family history and spent many hours researching her ancestors. She worked many years at BYU, retiring and moving to Salt Lake City to be closer to her daughters.
Donna is survived by her daughters and spouses: Debbie Ranes, Rebecca Ranes, Elizabeth Ranes (Linda Nelson), Sarah Ranes (Linda Schlappy), Mary (Rolf) Strand; her sister Sue Lee and brother Glen Spindel. She also is survived by five grandchildren: Whitney (Al) Cameron, Jessica (Vai) Jessop, Elisha Harris, Ryan (Katy) Ranes and Blake Strand; five great-grandchildren – Alex, Cole, Brady, Luke Cameron and Tavi Jessop.
Our mother taught us to be “Be Strong” and we will deeply miss her.
