Donna Mae Davis

July 15, 1948 — April 2, 2021

Donna Davis passed away on April 2, 2021. The sun was shining brightly, an ever-present wind chime tinkled in the background and her favorite squirrel darted around the courtyard in Missoula Montana. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Don “Midnite” Davis in June 2005. She is survived by her children, MaLinda Davis & Yvonne Perry, her grandson Billy Perry, Sister Sandra Hutson and many extended family members.
Donna, a farmer’s daughter, was born in 1948. Her first child, Yvonne Perry was born in 1970. Donna married the love of her life, Don “Midnite” Davis in 1974 and their child MaLinda was born in 1978. Donna had various jobs including semi-truck driver, proofreader and teletype operator, daycare operator and would eventually retire from medical equipment manufacturing. When Don & Donna got married, she became involved with the association for the blind and, being the only sighted person of their group, spent a lot of time caring for their many friends who were blind. Don and Donna became active in the LDS church and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Shortly after Don passed away, Donna moved to Missoula Montana to be closer to her family where she remained until her death.
To say Donna was “into” genealogy is an understatement. She spent much of her life tracing both hers and Don’s family history. Donna was a crafter extraordinaire. She used her glue gun so much that she burned one out and always had sparkles EVERYWHERE when doing her Diamond Dotz. She collected Salt & Pepper shakers, hummingbirds and Peacocks. She loved doing puzzles, reading, working on her computer and playing BINGO where she lived. BINGO was serious business; she had a special set of clapping hands she would use when she won.
Although Donna’s life moved on, she never truly got over the death of her husband Don. In June 2016, she posted a note to him via Facebook “Hey Midnite, you got there before I did, so now you have to wait for me. I wish you were here the weather is lovely, the people are friendly, but my heart has a hole in it. Wait for me at the veil and we will go for a horseback ride.” Knowing Don and Donna, that’s exactly what they did, they rode off together into the sunset like an old western movie with the song Happy Trails playing in the background.
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
