Our dear sweet, beautiful, courageous and bright Maria passed away November 12, 2024. She was born on December 19, 1933, in Anseong, South Korea. Maria and her husband, Ted, met during the Korean war while she worked at the Army telephone exchange as an operator. Ted was an Sargent in the Communications regiment and managed the exchange. They became good friends. They corresponded after the war for many months. Ted came back to Korea to marry Maria. Maria was so courageous. She crossed the ocean with the love of her life to live in a foreign land, leaving her culture, her home and her family. She missed her family, but with her husband, they built a good life in the states. Over the course of many years, she was able to bring her much missed family to live with her in Utah.
She obtained her Cosmetology license and worked as a beautician for many years and also made hairpieces for men at “Lifelike Hair for Men” – she even made one for Burt Reynolds. She and Ted loved making Korean food for friends and family. She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was the after-school grandma that always had treats for her grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore A. Faerber Jr., her father Yoo Chung Do, her mother Im Soon Ho, her sisters Yoo Ok Wha “Veronica”, Yoo Dong Im “Sister Cecilia”, and four brothers at a young age in South Korea. She is survived by her sister Cecilia Chenet, daughter Shirley Faerber (Jim McHugh), son James Faerber (Sherry Lindberg), son Ronald Faerber (Kari), grandchildren Arrin Garrick, Jesse Faerber Craner (Jon), Adam Faerber, Hanna Faerber, Jasmine Lindberg, Seth Lindberg, Chance Lindberg, and beautiful adorable great grandchildren.
