Uncle Don passed away December 2, 2015 because he ran out of birthdays. Donald Hugh Reid was born August 20, 1927 to Samuel and Vera Reid. He is now enjoying a long awaited reunion with Lila and Robbie. Don spent his childhood in Salt Lake City and was a proud West High panther of 1945. He loved the state of Utah and enjoyed long car trips to learn about the history. Known as “Uncle Don” to almost all, he always had a freezer or a cupboard full of unique treats to share with the neighborhood and extended family. Don spent most of his career in sales, including Volkers Furniture, and he was the “R” of M&R Used Furniture for nearly two decades. He later worked for Memorial Estates and Prices Guaranteed Doors. Don married Leila Ruth Lunnen (Aunt Lila) on April 14, 1949. 43 years later they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple. Don was father to Robin (Carrie), Barry, Kari (Alan) and Jeff (Heidi). He coached all four of his kids in little league baseball and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer from the sidelines of a basketball court, baseball diamond or football field. Don served his country in the U.S. Army 1945-1946. Don was preceded in death by his wife Leila, his oldest son, Rob, brothers, Keith, Ned and Robert, and sister, Betty Brown. He is survived by three of his children, brothers, Greg and Earl (Arlene), and his sister Shirley Walton, eleven grandchildren: Cathy, Ari, Alec, Angela (Cory), Whitney (Tracy), Lindsay, Spencer (Ashley), Kourtni, Mindi, Tyson and Brynlie, and eleven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the excellent staff at Paramount Health and Rehab facility and Canyons Hospice for the care they gave to Don.
