They say time heals broken hearts and diminishes the depths of grief. But how can time make such a difference? All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
Don was born on July 28, 1930, in Boise, Idaho, to Adolph and Alma Magnuson. He passed from this life into the next on Oct. 4, 2023. He grew up in Salmon and Boise, Idaho, speaking often about the stories of his childhood. He was drafted into the Korean War out of high school where he developed his love of airplanes and remained in the U.S. Army Reserve, teaching in the 6228 USAR School, until he retired in 1989 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He graduated from Northrop Aeronautical Institute in Los Angeles after returning home from Korea.
He married Charlene Magnuson in 1961, a marriage of 62 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Lisa and Brian Davis, a son, Brad and Stacy Magnuson, granddaughters, Cherise and Charlie, and great grandchildren, Kenley and Camden. His greatest sorrow was the death of his daughter, Donna Price, with whom he will now have the joy of reunion.
Don worked for the Federal Aviation Administration until he retired in 1997. He spent time traveling to much of Europe, Alaska, and as far north as Norway. He enjoyed gardening and everything to do with aviation, having built several airplanes himself as a hobby.
Fly with the angels now, our dear Loved One. Until we can be together again.
A graveside service for Don will be on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Lakeview Memorial Park, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful.
