Donald Humes

Donald Willard Humes was born to Willard Ores and Daisy Myrle (Condie) Humes in Fruitland, Utah on July 19, 1927. He passed away on October 18, 2015 in West Valley City, Utah. He spent his younger years in Fruitland before his family moved to Riverton, Utah.
Don married Rose M. (Lobato) on July 4, 1975. They enjoyed forty wonderful and loving years together. He was affectionately known as “Hummer” and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, dancing, and other activities. His constant and unscripted whistling will be missed by all. He was always there for his family and loved being involved in any family-oriented activity or event. He has been an instrumental force in the growth of over forty grandchildren.
Don worked as a farmer, truck driver, and warehouseman retiring after many years with Associated Food Stores. He shared many stories reflecting his varied life experiences, always creating a positive spin on everything.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Rose; children Bernie (Kelly), Todd, and Sue (Rob) Tripp; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his Lobato family through his marriage to Rose: Leonora Barela, Luis (Noni) Martinez, Richard (Libbie), Carol Lobato, Catherine (Terry) Camac, William, Robert, and James; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Siblings Thayne (Mert) Humes, Ruth (Glen) Markus, Beth (Jim) Seager, Darold (Julie) Humes, and Laura (John) Winder. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Lon, sister Velma, stepdaughter Margaret Ann Martinez, and stepson Dale Lobato.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 am at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held at 10:00 am prior to services; interment at Redwood Memorial.
