Donald George Tapp, Jr.

October 3, 1966 — August 20, 2018

Donald George Tapp Jr. was born to Bertha Rose (Jensen) Tapp and Donald George Tapp, Sr. on October 3, 1966 in Murray Utah. He was the sixth of their eight children and enjoyed playing sports when he was younger, especially during his time at Hillcrest High School where he contributed to the school’s dominant basketball team. He served an honorable full- time mission in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1985 to 1987 for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He was very close to his father, from whom he learned to work hard in the years leading up to his mission. Part way through his mission Don learned that his Dad had passed away, and Don showed great faith in choosing to stay in the mission field, trusting in God to take care of his Mother and younger siblings. This would become a pattern for him through his life, as he always maintained an optimism and hope through whatever hardship he or his loved ones faced.
Don was sealed to Linda Jean Walker in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on July 8, 1988. After attending the University of Utah he continued on to graduate from Creighton university with a degree in dentistry and then completed his orthodontic residency at Marquette University. The work ethic he developed with his parents and family growing up made him an excellent student, and he was among the first in his family to pursue and earn college degrees. Don was an amazing orthodontist and loved his work. He ran his own practice in Idaho for several years before his health declined.
He loved his family and was quick to help anyone he knew to be in need. Don took great pride in his five sons and always supported them in their hobbies and interests. Being involved in their accomplishments, no matter how small, brought him great satisfaction. He always was very proud of his work. While fighting through health problems, he was able to continue to help many people. He loved the opportunities his work gave him to help others, and especially to support his family. Don passed away on August 20th, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his seven siblings; Vic Tapp, Cristy Smith, Laurie Ostmann, Todd Tapp, Jamie Richins, Lisa Rudrow, and Aaron Tapp, and also by his five sons; Donnie Tapp, Geoffrey Tapp, Jacob Tapp, Luke Tapp, and Benjamin Tapp.
