Donald Ray Fielden

August 21, 1934 — August 29, 2024

West Jordan

Don passed away on August 29, 2024 surrounded by his family after fighting a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born August 21, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles & Florence Fielden. He graduated from Granite High School where he met his bride to be Glennae Nielsen. They were sealed to each other February 14, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They celebrated 67 years together.

Don earned a Bachelor's and master's degree at the University of Utah & went on to teach Science and Math at Kearns and Bennion Jr. High School in the Granite School District for 27 years. Don had a keen interest in aviation. He became a certified flight instructor in 1974. He worked with many to earn their pilot license and ratings. Along the way, he did handyman work to fill his free time. Don enjoyed golfing, hiking, hunting, 4-wheeling, bicycling, skiing and traveling.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving a mission to the Gulf States (1954-1956), and fulfilling many calls during the years. Glennae & Don were called a service mission at the St. George cannery & home storage center during the winter months (2005-2009) while maintaining a winter home in Washington City.

Don is survived by his wife, Glennae, son Randy (Rebecca), daughters Vicky (Doug) Dykens, Kathy (Scott) Chase, and Diana (Tracy) Johnston, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Connie Mason. Dad enjoyed his family time and all of his game nights with friends and family.

The family would like to thank our incredible caregivers for the amazing service and care they provided to Dad.  Seini, or as we call her, Janie with Emma's Elderly Home Care, is now family, and she will help us care for Mom. Symbii Home and Hospice have been with us since bringing Dad home from the Cascades at Riverwalk. We are eternally grateful for all the care and compassion from all those who helped Dad.

The funeral will be held at the Willow Grove Ward, 1945 W. 9000 S., West Jordan, Utah 84088, at 1:30 p.m. with viewing 2 hours prior to service. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Estates located at 3115 E 7800 South Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
