Donald Evans

June 13, 1933 — January 29, 2014

Our beloved husband and father, Donald, age 80, passed away January 29, 2014. Born June 13, 1933 in McGill, Nevada to Raymond A. and Beulah A. Smith Evans. Married Glenda Joy Anderson June 10, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Glenda and Don met in Colorado while she was in nurses training.
Donald loved the LDS Church and was a faithful member. He was converted while serving in the military in Colorado. He loved photography, painting and being outdoors. Our favorite memories are of hiking and fishing and enjoying the outdoors with Dad. He loved animals of all varieties, especially enjoyed his tropical fish and various collections. Don had a dry sense of humor often relating the same jokes. He loved taking his kids out of school to go bow hunting. We remember early morning fishing trips starting at 3:00 am. He was a professional wedding photographer for over 30 years. Don loved working in the yard and building fish ponds. We raised pigeons and chinchillas, and Glenda loving referred to it as “The Evans Family Zoo.” His paintings and photos were entered in the state and county fairs winning many ribbons. He was famous for his pencil portraits. In his younger years he ran middle distance, hurdles and high jump for South High, University of Utah and the Army. Don played basketball in the “All Church Tournament” at BYU. He loved giving gifts. Despite the challenging childhood that he had, he was an amazing father.
