Donald Erickson

February 4, 1945 — August 15, 2015

Donald Albert Erickson (Maddog) passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2015. Born February 4, 1945 in Litchfield, MN to Albert and Mabel Erickson (Oslund) he was one of four children.
Married Nancy Twedt in 1964 they had two children; Steven Donald Erickson and Amy Marie Erickson. Married Sheila Carlson in 1986 and became the stepfather to Jesse Goodrich.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and spent hours watching left turns with his friends. He loved his classic cars and antiques. He spent time in California gold mining with his best friend in life Harley Nelson. He owned his own auto body shop and created the first company to sell running boards in Utah. Donny had a brilliant mind and kept a quick wit to the end. He spent innumerable hours operating cats & dump trucks, the more wheels the better!
His Aunt Mary Mae and Uncle Joel were a big part of his life, he spoke fondly of them and that they took him to the local Lutheran Church and Sunday school where Mary Mae taught. He enjoyed ice fishing, boating and motorcycles. He played hockey at a young age but the only skates he could find were figure skates. Not sure how that worked out. Don could take apart any engine, fix it and put it back together and par for the course have a part or two left over.
Don travelled quite a bit, some for work and some to visit friends and family. Keeping it rubber side down he made many drives back home to Minnesota and stayed in touch with lifelong friends.
Don loved the mountains. He especially enjoyed going up to Kamas to the family cabin. There he could find peace and solitude. Enjoying the hummingbirds and various wildlife or hopping in his hot rod and cruising up mirror lake highway.
His family spent a lot of time in Kamas through the years snowmobiling, BBQ’ing, fishing and a lot of B.S.’ing
Preceded in death by his wife Sheila Erickson, parents Albert and Mabel Erickson, Brother Dean Erickson and Aunt Mary Mae and Uncle Joel and Maddog.
Survived by his son Steven, daughter Amy, & step-son Jesse Goodrich (Marcella); granddaughters Brittany, Chandee and Danielle & 3 great grandchildren Jayden, Whitley, & Averie; Brother Richard, Sister Diane & nieces and nephews.
