Donald Dean Beckert

December 13, 1933 — October 15, 2022

Donald Dean Beckert “Don” age 88, passed away due to natural causes on October 15, 2022 surrounded by family, at Cornerstone Senior Living in Boise, Idaho.
Born on December 13, 1933 in Millville, Utah to Arthur E. Beckert and Elda Clifford Beckert.
Don grew up in Northern Utah, spending years in both Logan and Brigham City. He loved the adventures he had in Cache Valley and around Brigham City. He loved to ski, camp, fish, hunt, swim, water ski, bike and spend time with great friends. He had an adventurous soul and as an adult loved to map his route and head for the open road.
Don was Drafted to serve in the United States Armed Forces in 1952. He was blessed to receive a deferral so he could serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central States Mission. After his mission, he reported to Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City. They needed men in the different branches of the military. They passed around a hat and Don drew out Navy/Air Force. His service as an airman began March 15, 1956 in San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged on October 16, 1957 to the Reserves but remained inactive until his final Discharge in 1962.
Don married Irene Brown and was blessed with his daughter, Jeanne Marie, and his son, Samuel David. Following a divorce, Don married Joan Faye Barnett Wolfe on July 19. 1977. He was blessed to then become the father to two more children, a daughter, Kristine Louise, and a son, Kenneth Jeffrey Wolfe. Family was always his joy. He loved each of his children so deeply. His eternal companion, Joan, was the light of his life.
Don was a successful paint contractor throughout his professional life. He learned to paint alongside his dad, Art, and his uncle, Charlie, as well as family friend, Otto Wolfe. He also worked with friends, Dee Moultry, Val Daniels, and Jay Hanson & sons. He painted both commercial and residential properties throughout Utah and Wyoming. He taught his sons, Sam and Kenny to paint as well. The family work ethic was cultivated and passed through the generations.
When Don retired, he began a marvelous journey in genealogy and family history. He loved to research and record stories of ancestors. He coupled this love of family with service in the temple. He served as a worker in the Jordan Utah Temple for 20 years, the Draper Utah Temple for 4 years, and served a one -year mission with Joan in the Washington DC Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Don’s life exemplified his core belief that Families are Forever.
Don is survived by his wife, Joan F. Beckert, Boise ID. His children: Jeanne Marie Beckert (Daryl) Salem, Oregon; Samuel David Beckert, Lynnwood, Washington; Kristine Louise Woodbury (Steve) Draper, Utah; Kenneth J. Wolfe (Heidi) Boise, Idaho. His grandchildren Trevor Ross Woodbury (Amy), Curtis James Woodbury (Liz), Jordan Taylor Woodbury, Kylie Marie Wolfe, Ashley Wolfe Simms (Ian), and Elizabeth Grace Wolfe; as well as 4 (and one on the way!) Great-grandchildren.  Don is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, David Beckert and his sister, Shirleen Beckert Hall (Roy). Don loved his friends, from his youngest years to his latest. You are each considered part of the family.
